Revered Ghanaian music producer and audio engineer Hubert Kofi Anti, known in showbiz as Ubeatz, has advised Shatta Wale to consider a live rendition of his latest hit song ‘Street Crown’.
Ubeatz believes a live performance would add depth and freshness to the record, which was released about a month ago and has already gained massive traction.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Music Lab on September 20, 2025, he praised Shatta Wale for producing a brilliant composition but stressed that a live touch could elevate the song even further.
“The guitarist sounded like he picked some sample and dropped it in. A real guitarist would have featured better. The live performance of this song will be very good, when real musicians are playing this,” he said.
He intimated that Shatta Wale should consider a version performed by a live band or orchestra.
‘Street Crown’ has received endorsement from fans and industry stakeholders, including Jamaican dancehall star Vybz Kartel, and is currently topping various music charts.
Music Lab takes Joy FM listeners behind the scenes of Ghana’s most talked-about songs, breaking down the creative and technical processes such as vocals, lyrics, instrumentation, arrangement and production. The show features music producers, musicologists and creatives who share expert analysis.
This week’s edition included Austine Woode (broadcaster), Kofi Boachie-Ansah also known as Beatmenace (audio engineer), Freeman Daniel Ame (voice coach and artiste development manager), and Ubeatz.
According to Joy FM, Music Lab seeks to educate and entertain music lovers, creatives, students, media practitioners and industry professionals. Its goals include demystifying the processes behind hit songs, highlighting Ghana’s musical diversity, and providing a platform for learning and critique.
The segment airs on Showbiz A-Z every Saturday from 2pm to 6pm on Joy 99.7 FM. The programme is hosted by Kwame Dadzie and produced by Philip Nai, with support from Anita Teye, Oliver Fangnon and DJ Wobeti.
