As part of commemoration of World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) in Ghana, the UK-Ghana Chamber of Commerce (UKGCC) would undertake a tour of its member company, Golden Exotics LTD. (GEL) on May 2, 2024.
The 31st World Press Freedom Day on May 3, 2024, themed “A Press for the Planet: Journalism in the face of the Environmental Crisis”, would highlights the significant role that journalists play to ensure and secure a sustainable future that respects the rights of individuals and their diversity of voices, as well as gender equality.
GEL is Ghana’s leading producer of bananas from Ghana and is honoured to host the media this year on a tour of its farms.
A statement from the UKGCC said the tour presents a unique opportunity to gain first-hand experience of a leading exporter, their opportunities, and challenges such as their recovery from the environmental crisis caused by the recent Akosombo Dam spillage.
The tour also presents an opportunity to identify new ways through which the private sector can continue to support a free press in Ghana.
The tour will provide your journalist with the opportunity to gather information and develop insightful stories to promote the WPFD theme.
