The University of Media, Arts and Communication, UniMAC, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with creative company AKUNA to strengthen industry focused training for students.
The agreement marks a significant step towards bridging academic learning and practical industry experience within Ghana’s creative sector.
The signing ceremony brought together key members of UniMAC’s leadership, including Vice Chancellor Professor Eric Opoku Mensah, Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Winston Kwame Abroampa, Acting Registrar Dr Obaapanin Adu Oforiwaa, Director of the Centre for Global Education and Collaboration, Dr Lawrencia Agyepong, and Rector of the Institute of Film and Television, Professor Samuel Manasseh Yirenkyi. Also present were senior administrators including UniMAC IFT Finance Director Mr Emmanuel Brown and Mrs Mary Annun of the CGEC.
AKUNA was represented by Mariam K. A. Buahin, Chief Operating Officer of Akuna Group Ghana, who reaffirmed the company’s commitment to nurturing and elevating Ghanaian creative talent. She described UniMAC as a worthy partner to help bring that vision to life.
Under the agreement, UniMAC students will benefit from structured mentorship, hands on industry training, content creation opportunities, and clearer pathways into the commercial side of the creative economy. The partnership is expected to help students translate their skills into sustainable businesses, global relevance, and meaningful contributions to Ghana’s creative industry.
The MoU signals a future where academic expertise and industry innovation work closely together to prepare the next generation of media and creative professionals.
