Ghana Football Association President Kwasi Nyantakyi has given an overwhelming endorsement of the retention of goalkeeper Razak Braimah in the Black Stars.
The CD Guadalajara shot-stopper impressed on his Ghana debut in the 2-2 draw with Turkey in an international friendly earlier this month.
It was however the assured performance of the ex Nania goalkeeper that drew a lot of admiration.
Braimah’s immense contribution in the friendly match has been rewarded with another call up to the Black Stars for next month’s double header against Zambia and Japan.
And Kwasi Nyantakyi who doubles as head of the Black Stars management committee admits the Spanish-based goalkeeper deserves his second call up to the Black Stars.
“I am not a coach, but from what I saw (in the Turkey friendly) there was no need to ask the coach any questions about his (Braimah) call up,” said Nyantakyi.
“He is twice my size and you could see he is a real man in the post.
“Not only that, he threw the ball like a catapult to Asamoah Gyan on the other side of the pitch in getting the first of Ghana’s goals against Turkey.
“Not many goalkeepers can initiate an attack as he did and I think he deserved to be called again.
“He has been talked of a lot of times and the coaches have also been monitoring him for some time. They (Ghana coaches) got videos of him and all that before handing him his debut call to the Black Stars.
“He is a very good goalkeeper and I believe he will bring healthy
competition to the goalkeeping department of the Black Stars.”
Braimah will be up against Adam Kwarasey and first choice Fatau Dauda for a starting place in Ghana’s team for the crucial 2014 World Cup qualifier against Zambia on September 6.
The Black Stars will then travel to face Japan in an international friendly days later.
