The family of the man who was allegedly shot by the police during protests of the Vea Dam project in the Upper East region is sceptical about on-going investigations of the case. The deceased, Gideon Aniah is one of local residents who protested the blasting of rocks to pave way for the construction of the dam because it housed their shrines. Speaking to Joy News, spokesperson of the family, Baba Timothy who also demanded compensation for the loss of their relative said investigations of cases involving police shooting of civilians usually yield no results. The care-taker Minister for the Upper East region and Minister designate for Defence, Mark Woyongo who has been facilitating an amicable consensus among the parties holds a different view. He thinks the family is jumping the gun, but must allow the investigations to be completed. He is confident that the findings would put all matters to rest.
