Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has underscored the need for a comprehensive review of Ghana’s existing agreements with the European Union during a meeting with EU Ambassador Rune Skinnebach.
Welcoming the Ambassador to Ghana, the Vice President said the moment demands productive engagement aimed at strengthening bilateral and regional cooperation.
She stressed the value of genuine partnerships, especially in a fast-changing global environment. According to her, reviewing current agreements, addressing gaps, and building collaborations grounded in equity, respect, and shared strategic interests are crucial to advancing mutual goals.

“Peace is the cornerstone of progress. Adopting a preventative approach to security challenges is far more effective, sustainable, and cost-efficient than reacting after crises occur,” she said, adding that early action, collective commitment, and strong institutional cooperation remain vital for protecting stability.
Their discussions also touched on emerging opportunities across Africa, especially within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The Vice President reiterated Ghana’s readiness to leverage the AfCFTA to strengthen its role as a regional hub for trade and integration.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang expressed appreciation for the EU as a valued partner and reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to deepening cooperation to promote stability, prosperity, and shared growth.
