VIAM Africa Centre for Education and Social Policy has appointed Mr Steven Kyerematen as Board Chairman for its Ghana branch.
Mr Stephen Kyerematen, a distinguished insurance professional with four decades of experience, will by this appointment, lead the Board of Directors of VIAM Africa (Ghana) to provide direction in developing the overall strategic vision and mission of the organisation.
He will also be responsible for monitoring the financial position of the organisation and have final authority for decisions about the future direction of VIAM Africa (Ghana).
He has previously served as the Head of the International Division in the Head Office of the African Reinsurance Corporation in Lagos, Nigeria, where he was responsible for risk evaluation and underwriting acceptances of all non-African insurance risks for the account of Africa Re. During this period, he served as Manager for both the African Oil and Energy insurance Pool and the African Aviation insurance Pool for Africa Re.
Mr Kyerematen is currently the CEO of Activa International Insurance Company, Ghana. He is also the CEO of Activa Finances, Mauritius; Chairman, Activa International Insurance Company, Liberia; Chairman, Activa International Insurance Company, Sierra Leone; Chairman of Board of Directors, UT Life Insurance Company, Ghana.
He also holds many other key positions. He served as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Malaysia with concurrent accreditation to five South-East Asian countries including Thailand and the Philippines. He developed a keen interest in education following his stint with the Asia-Pacific region which he brings unto VIAM Africa.
