Actor Kofi Adjorlolo has described government's decision to build a film village in Kyebi in the Eastern region as illogical.
He told Joy News’ MzGee Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, is indisputably the film hub of the country and deserves the village.
“As people who are trying to plan and make sure our film industry develops to a certain level, didn’t they think?” he quizzed.
The veteran actor is not the only one who is unhappy about government’s decision to sight the film village in Kyebi. The filmmakers in Kumasi in July marched to parliament to present a petition to the speaker.
They pleaded with parliament in their petition to help reverse the decision of government.
Ola Michaels, their spokesperson had disclosed the husband of actress Mercy Asiedu is willing to give out 250 acres of land, in Kumasi, for the construction of the Film Village.
The movie producer revealed the land is already a film spot for movies like ‘Sankofa’, ‘Abuburo Kosua’ and many others. The chief of Hemang has also allocated 200 acres of land for the construction of the Film Village.
Shortly after their march, the Creative Art Council headed by Mark Okraku Mantey released a statement claiming government has plans to build two film villages of which Kumasi is an option.
“That’s all lies. They only came out to say they would build two film villages because people started agitating,” Kofi Adjorlolo claimed.
He explained there are not many actors in Kyebi which counts as one of the flaws in government's decision.
“it means the actors would have to move to Kyebi when everything of theirs is in Kumasi. I have a problem with whoever came up with the Kyebi idea,” he added.
