Two of the greatest assets in any player’s arsenal, speed and the ability to drive past the opponent, are something that quite easily sums up Lionel Messi’s style of play in just a few words.
So, in order to illustrate how powerful their newest boot, the adiZero F50, truly is, Adidas have combined the only two things needed to truly show off the talents of their poster boy, Lionel Messi: technology and dubstep.
Adorned with a Lycra leotard of fluorescent light nodules, Messi shows us "The New Speed of Light," allowing us to keep up with and track his movement thanks to the vapour trail behind him.
The F50 range has always been Adidas’ speed range, the most lightweight of all their boots and at the summit of which one can only presume the adiZero now resides.
So divine is the power of the footwear that Messi will parade its power in front of the pope next month.
According to The Telegraph, mid-August will see Argentina and Italy face off in a preseason friendly in Rome at which Pope Francis will watch on from the stands.
As a fellow Argentine, Messi might be allowed to expect some sort of blessing from his compatriot and hope that his newest range of Adidas boots can yield even more success than those prior.
The adiZero F50 tagline reads “Light Up The Pitch.” One can only hope that isn’t the start of a new campaign for us all to necessarily wear electronically powered Lycra suits too.
