The acting IGP has led a police delegation to Cape Coast following recent disturbances between the youth and the police.
John Kudalor is seeking first-hand information on what triggered the violence which recorded two deaths and several properties destroyed.
According to Joy News’ Richard Kwadwo Nyarko, the IGP has met with the Cape Coast paramount chief to discuss the issue.
Some angry youth in Cape Coast attacked the police station in the area destroying dozens of properties belonging to the police, Sunday.
The attack, according to the youth is to avenge the death of one of their colleagues who died on Friday after the police swooped in on them.
Reports say the police raided the community to flush out criminal elements but one person died during the exercise.
Some of the angry youth claimed that police assaulted the deceased person, Kwasi Sabado, before putting him in custody.
He was later confirmed dead after he was rushed to the Cape Coast Metro Hospital.
At a closed door meeting between security agencies and residents, Monday, it was revealed that a gunshot from the police had killed a second person during the clash on Sunday.
The Central Regional Police Commander denied claims by the residents.
According to DCOP Ransford Moses Ninson, the deadly shot might have come from a resident as some of them fired at the police using their locally manufactured guns.
About 36 people were arrested after the clash.
But Joy FM's Central Region correspondent Richard Kojo Nyarko reported, Monday, 31 of the suspects were released leaving behind the five suspects.
According to him, the five are being investigated for other charges including drug related offences.
They have been remanded in prison custody to reappear in two weeks.
