As part of its Employee Volunteerism Initiative, employees of the telecom giant, Vodafone Ghana have offered support at the various emergency Healthfest events which offered free medical screening for residents within communities that were mostly affected by the June 3 floods.

The Employee Volunteerism programme was introduced by the Vodafone Ghana Foundation to empower employees with the resources to support communities by being involved in activities they feel passionate about.

Applauding employees for their exemplary move, Nana Yaa Ofori-Koree, Head of Vodafone Ghana Foundation and Sustainability said: 

“Vodafone’s employees present at Alajo and all the communities that Healthfest visited have shown love to the victims when it mattered most. We are proud to have impacted the lives of consumers we normally provide telephony services for”.

A Vodafone volunteer, Kojo Gyimah, expressed satisfaction about aiding the disabled and aged members of the community to seek medical attention at the Polo Park at Alajo.

The emergency Healthfest initiatives over the past weeks have reached thousands of residents within Glefe - Dansoman, Tema New Town, and Nungua, with messages about personal hygiene and health screening for hypertension, high blood pressure and general medical examination. 

Meanwhile, Vodafone Group has supported Vodafone Ghana Foundation with £100,000 to provide relief items to displaced families and support various hospitals nationwide with free medical supplies.
