The Award-Winning Vodafone Ghana Boss, Kyle Whitehill has disclosed that the company would launch a Mobile Money service this year. Kyle Whitehill made the disclosure in an interview with journalists after he won the Telecom CEO of the Year at the Second MobileWorld Ghana Telecom Awards, held at the plush Holiday Inn in Accra. “We are going to bring mobile money this year I promise - we have been careful about when to bring it but we do not want to bring something that is similar to what is already on the market – we want to bring something that is relevant and that all Ghanaians can be proud of,” he said in answer to a question by Adom News Editor, Nii Narku Dowuona. He did not give details but Adom News gathered from a reliable source it would be a bit different from the others on the market, which were largely modeled on the famous Kenyan MPESA mobile money service. Kyle Whitehill said winning the Telecom CEO of the year meant a lot to him because “coming from your country to another country to work you would want to do everything to succeed and so to be given the award as CEO of the Year means a lot to me.” Meanwhile Vodafone swept an unprecedented six awards at the second telecom awards night; they included Marketing Campaign of the Year, Business/Enterprise Solution of the Year, Special Recognition for Woman in ICT of the Year, Customer Service of the Year and the prestigious Telecom Brand of the Year. Kyle Whitehill attributed that feat to everything the company had done over the last two years to make the Vodafone the best and most powerful brand in Ghana, and provided the best customer experience at all levels. He said the awards were a clear feedback from customers that they liked what they were getting from Vodafone and so Vodafone would give customers more of those services and products that ensured value for money and great experience for the customer. “Everything we do at Vodafone is about ensuring value for money and great experience for the customer – whether you come into my call centre, Vodafone Stores, or meet my staff – I genuinely believe we have the greatest workers in Ghana, and when you work with great people you are successful,” he said. Mr. Whitehill said he led Vodafone staff to town on Friday, April 20, 2012 under a campaign dubbed ‘Happy Feet’ to find out firsthand what services and products Ghanaian prefer so Vodafone would develop the solution to meet those expectations. ‘Happy Feet’ took the Vodafone staff to the major market centres in Accra such Makola, Circle, Kaneshie, Abossey Okai and other places where they interacted directly with both customers and non-customers and picked up feedback and vital information to help in designing relevant solutions for Ghanaians. The Vodafone Boss hinted that Vodafone was going to bring products and services to Ghana that “Ghana has not seen before” and continue to provide great network quality, fix broadband that people were proud of and ensure that Ghanaians got value for money in whatever they bought from Vodafone.
