The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has led the donation of proceeds from the maiden Regional celebration of the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving to Madamfo Ghana, a non-profit organisation based in Ho that supports children who have suffered abuse, neglect, and trafficking.
Accompanied by the Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Stephen Adom, and other dignitaries, Mr Gunu presented the entire proceeds from the spiritually uplifting event to the organisation, which currently provides shelter and care to some 32 vulnerable children, some as young as two years old.

Speaking at the presentation, Mr Gunu praised Madamfo Ghana for its unwavering commitment to the welfare of disadvantaged children in the Region.
He described the donation as a practical expression of faith, noting that “supporting their work is not just an act of charity, it is a moral duty we owe to the most vulnerable among us.”
“This donation is our way of putting faith into action. As we lifted our voices in prayer today, we were reminded that true thanksgiving must reflect in how we serve and uplift others,” he added.

The gesture has been widely welcomed as a timely intervention to bolster the work of Madamfo Ghana, which remains a crucial haven for at-risk children in the Volta Region.
Mr. Gunu expressed hope that such acts of collective kindness would inspire a deeper commitment to building a more compassionate and just society.

The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, observed for the first time at the National and Regional levels throughout the country, brought together faith leaders, community members, and government officials in a shared moment of spiritual reflection and social responsibility.
Themed "Reset, Reflect and Review for National Prosperity", the initiative was introduced by President John Mahama to be observed annually on 1st July.
It serves as a moment to give thanks to God and seek His guidance and protection for Ghana’s ongoing journey towards development.
