The Black Queens will kick off preparations for the upcoming Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with participation in the Pinks Ladies Cup tournament in the United Arab Emirates.
The four-nation tournament is scheduled to run from February 28 to March 6, 2026 providing the team with a competitive platform to fine-tune the squad, test tactical combinations and build match fitness ahead of the continental showpiece.
The Pinks Ladies Cup, which brings together national teams from different parts of the world, is widely regarded as a high-level tournament and this year’s edition features Ghana, Russia, Hong Kong and Tanzania.
Coach Kim Lars Björkegren will use the tournament to assess both experienced players and emerging talents as he shapes the squad for WAFCON.
The preparatory competition is expected to provide the Black Queens with varied playing styles and intense match situations.
Participation in the UAE-based competition also underscores the Ghana Football Association and the government’s commitment to ensuring optimal preparation for the Black Queens as we target a strong showing at WAFCON.
The Black Queens are expected to depart for the UAE ahead of the tournament, with the squad details to be announced in the coming days.
