Espanyol winger Wakaso Mubarak has sensationally claimed that Spanish referees are biased against black players.
Espanyol have been the victims of some controversial refereeing decisions this season, most notably in Valencia last Saturday, when they had two men sent off and a last minute penalty awarded against them.
Wakaso in particular is the most indisciplined player in La Liga going by the statistics, having received six yellow cards and one red.
“I am sorry to say, but referees draw cards based on the colour of your skin,” the former Villarreal midfielder said in a Press conference this morning.
“I think they respect some players and not others. The game at Mestalla was rubbish. Only against Osasuna did we deserve to lose. Every other game was influenced by the referee.”
