The Ghana Water Company is promising an additional 3.5 million gallons of water by the weekend.
This is expected to ease the suffering of consumers, who have been hit hard by water rationing in parts of the country.
The Company announced the rationing over two weeks ago after some filters at the Weija Treatment Plant broke down.
Communications Manager at the Ghana Water Company Stanley Martey told Joy News that repairs on malfunctioning filters are nearing completion with the last one expected to be fixed on Saturday.
Mr Martey explained that when the repairs is finished, consumers’ suffering will be alleviated.
He also backed calls from the Convention People's Party (CPP) for consolidated fund monies to be released to the Water Company to finance massive infrastructure developments in the water sector.
He reported that the idea came up during a stakeholders meeting but has yet to be fully implemented.
