Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy said that the promotion of negative news in the Ghanaian music industry does not help the industry players and the industry as a whole.
The “Putuu” hitmaker has disclosed in an interview with Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, that, the pushing of controversial news in the media space doesn’t help paint the Ghanaian music industry in good light and media personnel have to be constructive in what they put on social media.
“When you amplify these things out of the box, it goes a long way to not help the industry at all,” he said.
The Bhim Nation president added that, sometimes, when an interview is conducted, more focus is put on the controversial and negative news on social media about the artiste in question.
“Imagine we have one hour, we will spend 40 minutes on the controversial news and that would not help us,” he said.
He also explained that people could get sued for what they say on social media when they put out the negative news especially if the artiste wants to take them on.
“We should amplify the fact that some people could get sued for some of the things they say on social media to other artists especially when they want to take you on”
He added that he has seen his fellow dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, address the same thing differently.
The artiste said all this when he was asked about Sarkodie, Shatta Wale and his fan base trolling each other whenever any of them gain a different height in their careers.
On 28th April, 2022, DefJam Records Africa—a division of Universal Music Group, announced that it has signed Ghanaian musician, Stonebwoy, onto the record label.
His first single, Therapy, under the record label, is out now.
