Media personality Kwasi Kyei Darkwah, popularly known as 'KKD,' stated that while Ghana is rich in natural resources, it lacks capable leaders.
He noted that many talented young Ghanaians end up engaging in menial jobs in other countries.
KKD urged leaders who have served well to step aside and allow young and middle-aged individuals to take over.
Mr Darkwah asserted that the country's leaders fail to train successors, resulting in prolonged tenures in office. He compared these leaders to selfish shepherds who consume their own sheep.
Speaking on the JoyNews AM show, Mr Darkwah said, “I see a Ghana where the shepherd is so selfish that everyday, he goes out with the sheep, he sells some of the sheep quietly and does not let the owners know. The owners are the people of Ghana. The shepherds are those elected and appointed to serve and lead and who they are selling us to is foreigners who are buying everything of ours for cheap, but now they have turned away from even selling to the foreigners so that some profit would come to the country. Whatever little there is in it, they are selling the nation to themselves.”
Mr Darkwah asserted that the Nigerian president, noticing the uprising in Kenya is approaching Nigeria, is taking steps to abolish the office of the First Lady and reduce the size of the government. KKD compared Ghana to China, noting that while China, a much larger country, has only 20 ministers, Ghana has nearly 126 ministers, in addition to special assistants and special advisors.
“And I ask myself, do we have a leader?". No, we do not. Each one for himself, God for us all,” he said.
