The Local Organising Committee (LOC) Chairman for the Confederation of African Athletics Region II seniors championships, Dr Kwame Baah-Nuakoh has called for support to make the organisation of the competition a success.
Speaking to the media ahead of the event on June 3, 2024, Dr Baah-Nuakoh emphasised the significance of this championships as an Olympic qualifier, drawing attention from around the world.
"The fact that this event serves as an Olympic qualifier means that the world's attention will be on it," he stated.
"The Confederation of African Athletics is prioritising this event, shifting others to ensure that West Africa, Region II, utilises this as the main platform for Olympic qualification and also to prepare athletes for the African Athletics Championships which will be the final opportunity for anybody to meet the qualifying standards for the Olympics."
Central to the success of the championships is the involvement of corporate partners.
Dr Baah-Nuakoh highlighted the immense value that sponsors stand to gain from associating themselves with the event.
"We are looking to broadcast the event and send the signal to other competing countries, offering exposure that corporate Ghana cannot put a value on," he explained.
"We are committed to ensuring that our partners receive tangible benefits from their investment."
Addressing concerns about the return on investment, Dr Baah-Nuakoh reassured potential sponsors that their contributions would be met with significant value.
"One of the challenges has always been partners feeling they don't get value for their money," he acknowledged.
"But we are here to give them the assurance that their investment will yield substantial returns."
"No amount is small, and we can package to benefit each of our corporate partners."
The competition will start on June 3 and conclude on June 6, 2024.
