A platform that seeks to advance women’s leadership and participation in Ghana’s energy sector, Women in Energy (WiE) Ghana, is set to be launched on Wednesday.The platform was borne out of the concern about the effects of the limited presence and participation of women in top leadership positions in the various operations along the value chain in the energy sector.The launch which is scheduled to take place at the Accra Marriot Hotel has the Deputy Minister of Energy, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam as the Guest of Honour with the keynote speaker will be the Managing Director of Tullow Ghana Limited and Executive Vice President Tullow Oil Plc, Kweku Awotwi.In a press release Tuesday, the group said to increase women’s leadership and participation in the sector members will also advocate for increased numbers of women in a leadership position.This the group said will be in recognition of the contribution from women in the energy sector.The highlight of the launch will be a thought-provoking discussion on the participation of women in the energy sector by a panel of seasoned experts.Members of the panel include the Managing Director of PHI Century Ltd Ghana, Essie Anno Sackey; Strategy and Content Integration Consultant from Kenya, Jean Githinji, and the Chairman of the Ghana Upstream Petroleum Chamber, Charles Darku,The moderator for the panel discussion will be the Principal Consultant of Anojul Afriyie and Co., Dr Juliette Twumasi-Anokye.The launch will also provide an opportunity for the new WiE Board of Directors to be presented.It includes Adelaide Addo-Fening as Chair with Harriet Amissah-Arthur, Ivy Owusu, Linda Vasnani, Charles Darku and Theophilus Ahwireng as members.
