On Wednesday afternoon, President John Mahama swore in six of his ministers, including Dr Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance, Dr Dominic Ayine as Attorney General and Minister of Justice, and John Abdulai Jinapor as Minister for Energy and Green Transition.
The other appointees include Governs Kwame Agbodza as Minister for Roads and Highways, Haruna Iddrisu as Minister for Education, and Eric Opoku as Minister for Food and Agriculture.
Addressing the ministers after they took their oaths, the President urged them to perform to the best of their abilities, ensuring the satisfaction of the Ghanaian people.
To Mr Agbodza, the Adaklu Member of Parliament, the President highlighted the challenges of his new role, describing it as one of the most difficult.
"Mr Governs Agbodza, you probably have one of the most difficult jobs. Everybody in Ghana is complaining about bad roads. You have the duty not only to maintain the existing roads but also to provide new roads for smoother transportation," the President told the newly appointed minister.
Following his vetting and approval by Parliament, Mr Agbodza shared his gratitude for the appointment on Facebook, writing: "Following my nomination by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and subsequent consideration by the Appointments Committee of Parliament, the House has unanimously approved my nomination as the Minister Responsible for Roads and Highways."
He expressed his thanks to the President for the opportunity and to the Appointments Committee for their constructive assessment.
"I am deeply honoured and humbled by this high honour and the confidence reposed in me by His Excellency the President. I take this opportunity to express my profound appreciation to him. I also extend my gratitude to members of the Appointments Committee for their constructive assessment and the subsequent approval by my colleagues" he said.
Mr Agbodza assured the public of his readiness to lead the Ministry, saying, "I am fully aware of the responsibility entrusted to me in leading the vision of His Excellency the President in the roads sector. I pledge to work hard to justify this trust."
Mr Agbodza has represented the people of Adaklu in Parliament since 2013. In the 8th Parliament, he served on the Committee for Roads and Highways and also acted as the Minority Chief Whip. He is currently the Majority Chief Whip in the 9th Parliament.
