Workers of the Zoomlion Waste Management Company in the Tamale Metropolis have undertaken a three-hour cleanup and fumigation exercise of public toilets in the metropolis.
The exercise was particularly aimed at the Nalong Electoral Area where there was a cholera outbreak a few weeks ago.
Prince Alhassan Baako, Northern Regional Operations Supervisor of Zoomlion who led the workers, said the exercise was aimed at eradicating cholera and malaria in the metropolis and urged the people to assist the company to improve upon sanitation.
He said a lot had been achieved in the area of general cleanliness and sanitation since Zoomlion started its operations in the Metropolis.
Prince Baako commended the chiefs, religious and opinion leaders in the Metropolis for their cooperation with the workers of the company in their efforts to keep the city clean.
