One hundred and six students of the Christ the King International School in Kumasi risk not entering Senior High School, at least for this year, after authorities failed to register them for the Basic Education Certificate Examination which begins Monday, April 20, 2009. The students were said to have paid GH¢15.00 each for their MOCK examination and registration fees, but the monies cannot be accounted for. In an interview with Luv FM's Elton John Brobbey, Mr. Adu Gyamfi, proprietor of the school admitted collecting the money from the students but said he was not able to meet the deadline set by the West Africa Examination Council for registration. He also claimed to have handed over the monies to the Headmaster of the School, Agyenim Boateng, but he has denied collecting the money. The two are in police custody assisting investigations into the matter. Meanwhile, the stranded students have appealed to government to intervene to enable them write the examination.
