Two persons have sustained gunshot wounds after armed robbers stormed Promise Land near Adjei Kojo, a suburb of Accra Tuesday dawn.
One of the victims was shot when the robbers entered his home.
The other injured person was amongst a group of youth who stepped out to confront the criminals, but were forced to flee when the suspected robbers shot at them.
The residents say they are terrified by the situation.
A young lady who spoke to Joy News’ Joseph Opoku Gakpo said she and her family were in bed when the robbers broke into the house, held them at gunpoint and demanded that they hand over their monies and other valuable items.
The terrified family could do nothing but watch as the four robbers gathered their belongings and left.
Another resident said his wife woke him up that they had been surrounded by robbers.
He said the robbers fired at a house just opposite his, injuring the occupants in the process.
A member of the Landlord Association in the area said this is not the first time robbers have raided the area.
He said a watch dog team created by the community helped to ward of robbers in the past but due to the lack of funds to sustain the team, it collapsed.
It was after the team ceased operations that the robbers stormed the area again.
He said discussions will be made with the residents to restore the watch dog team.
