The much anticipated 2011 edition of the Joy FM Nite with the Stars came off at the Accra International Conference Centre Saturday night, thrilling thousands of music patrons who thronged the venue.
With a long list of seasoned acts on the bill, expectations were high and yes patrons left the venue satisfied.
The event started with video mixes from Africa’s number one DJ, DJ Black followed by the Shabo band who played hi-life tunes to the delight of many.
T-Blaze of the popular Wo Sisi Yewo Ya got the performances on the road. Apart from Wo Sisi Yewo Ya, T-Blaze performed other popular tunes such as Secretary and Feeling No Ye Deep.
Ghana’s rap Sofour Obrafour, Bradez, Buk Bak, Okyeame - who entered the auditorium in a grand style, ridding on the back of a horse -, Samini, Kokovelli, K.K. Fosu, Kofi Nti, K.K. Fosu, Ofori Amponsah, Castro, Yaw Siki were among the long list of acts who took turns to treat fans to a memorable night of music and dance.
They each rekindled old glories constantly getting audience on their feet dancing away to the exciting tunes and performances. All the artistes for the night exceeded expectations.
MTN, main sponsors of the show as part of activities marking their 10 million milestone gave away exciting prizes including airtime and Blackberry handsets.
The two Blackberries were given away through the popular Azonto dance competition, the first of which saw Mildred from Tema coming against Adwoa of Accra. Mildred was adjudged the winner.
MC for the night, Bola Ray and DJ Black also gave a go at the popular Azonto dance. It was a case of don’t mind the body and the belly – it is the skills that matters.
In all, this year’s Nite with the Stars truly lived up to the hype and organizers did put up a great show.
