Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Ogum, in his reaction to Richmond Lamptey making the Ghana final squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations says the player has unique abilities that will benefit the team.
The 26-year-old midfielder, described as a genius by his coach, leads a three-man list of Ghana Premier League players included in the 27-man squad.
The other two are Medeama striker Jonathan Sowah and left back Hamidu Fatawu.
Lamptey’s selection has generated real buzz among Asante Kotoko.
Speaking to Kotoko media after the news, Oogum was full of praise for his star midfielder who has five assists in 12 games in the Ghana Premier League.
“I think his game understanding. His ability to identify situations on the field and apply the right decision on the field makes him unique and that is what he’s been doing to help Asante Kotoko as a team.
“His reading of the game, his understanding of the game, and the application of the right decisions on the field make him an entirely extraordinary player among us. I see him to be a genius.”
