The Vice President and Flagbearer of the NPP, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, widely known for his passion for technology and innovation, has decided to incorporate advanced technology into his presidential campaign.
In a first for Africa, and among a few pioneering moves worldwide, the presidential candidate of the ruling NPP has introduced an AI chatbot to communicate with voters on a national scale.
The Bawumia Campaign, which has already made the innovation public, says that through this platform, voters can engage with Dr. Bawumia, ask him anything about his plans for the country, and he will respond directly.
To interact with Dr. Bawumia digitally via the AI chatbot, voters can visit www.bawumiagpt.com in their browser, which will enable them to engage with Bawumia and learn about his plans for the country.
The use of AI as a positive campaign tool is rare globally, as the technology has often been used negatively to discredit and defame opponents.
Globally, only a few politicians have adopted AI as a positive campaign tool, and even then, in very limited capacities. Examples include U.S. Democratic Congressional candidate Shamaine Daniels and Pakistan's Imran Khan, who used it once to address a virtual rally.
Dr. Bawumia's personalized, national-scale deployment of the AI chatbot as a major feature of his campaign is a rare move globally and certainly the first of its kind on the African continent.
