Majority leader Mahama Ayariga has hailed the 2025 budget as proof that President John Dramani Mahama is a "talk and do" leader, committed to fulfilling his campaign promises.
Speaking after the parliamentary debate on the budget statement on Tuesday, March 25, Mr Ayariga commended the administration for its decisive economic measures.
According to him, the budget, presented by Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, clearly demonstrates President Mahama’s dedication to easing the financial burden on Ghanaians.
"The President assured the people that certain taxes would be scrapped, and true to his word, this budget delivers on that promise," he stated.
He specifically highlighted the removal of the unpopular electronic transaction levy (E-Levy) and betting tax, among others, as a bold step towards economic relief.
"Unlike past governments that imposed excessive levies, this administration is showing real commitment to alleviating the tax burden on citizens," Mr Ayariga remarked.
The Majority leader further emphasised that the 2025 budget signals a shift towards a more progressive and people-centered economic policy.
"This is leadership in action. President Mahama is demonstrating that governance is about delivering on promises, not just making them. This budget is a testament to his vision for a fairer economy," he concluded.
