Eight more people have died from the coronavirus disease as the country's coronavirus cases rise.

In its latest report, the Ghana Health Service (GHS) says more Ghanaians are succumbing to the deadly virus.

In less than 24 hours, the death toll has risen from 464 to 472 as of February 9.

The country has also recorded 6,707 active cases and 795 new cases within this short span.

As part of initiatives set up by government, the Ministry of Information will on Tuesday hold a press briefing to update the citizens about efforts to deal with the virus.

Meanwhile, the Covid-19 response team at the Greater Accra Regional Hospital has indicated that work on an in-house testing facility for the novel coronavirus has been completed.

A member of the medical team, Dr Emmanuel Addipa-Adipoe during an interview with JoyNews' Daniel Dadzie revealed that pilot testing commenced on February 8, 2021.

The facility is expected to house several Ghanaians who fall victim to Covid-19 for medical treatment.
