The Rotary club of Accra-La East has inducted RP Percy Ebo Sackey as its third President to steer affairs for the 2019-2020 Rotary year with effect from 1st July 2019.
Prior to his appointment, RP Sackey served as the First Vice-President of the Club in 2017-2018 and President-elect in 2018-2019 Rotary year. He is an Architect and the CEO of Pergola Creations. His signature works span across Ghana and other African countries.
Handing over the mantle at the induction ceremony, held in Accra, the Immediate Past President, Rosemary Amarh-Kwantreng thanked members for giving her the opportunity to serve, observing that, the volunteerism and diverse contributions of members demonstrated what it means to put service above self to change lives, a guide by the Rotary theme for the past year ‘Be the Inspiration’.
She called for same support to the new President, expressing optimism that RP Sackey will scale up the momentum of the Club and carry it unto a higher pedestal.
Accepting his new office, RP Percy Ebo Sackey said his goal is to engage all club members and foster team building that will help in achieving the Rotary International theme for the 2019–2020 Rotary year, ‘Rotary connects the World’.
He mentioned that the main areas of focus his administration will tackle in this Rotary year to achieve the Rotary Citation will include: member retention and growth, significant contribution to the Rotary Foundation, member education in Rotary information, showcasing a positive Rotary Public Image and undertaking service projects.
Community Support
The Rotary Club of Accra–La East in the past two years has donated pediatric medical equipment to LA General Hospital, Water tanks to LA Wireless Cluster of schools and Mathematics and Science books to LA Wireless Cluster of Schools and LA Presec as Service Projects.
Other projects to be executed include a library within the community, a water project in the Central region and the club’s flagship project which is a National Retinoblastoma eye Screening for babies across Ghana, estimated at 90,000 Euros in partnership with the Rotary Club of Detmold & Bloomberg in Germany.
