Artiste manager and entertainment critic, Emmanuel Barnes, has revealed he has ‘a no pregnancy rule’ for every contract he signs with female acts.
Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Mr Logic as he is popularly known, explained because pregnancy either halts or negatively affects a female artiste’s career, it would hurt to see all investments go to waste.
“Imagine investing GH¢2m in a female artiste and she gets pregnant in the processes, my investments will suffer,” he told Andy Dosty, hosts of the show.
Mr Logic’s comments come after singer Eazy in an interview disclosed, a major challenge for Ghanaian female acts is to find the time to get pregnant.
She stated, in an industry already hard to break through, as a female, getting pregnant will force the acts into a break they may not be ready for.
Mr Logic stated, some female artistes are controlled by their boyfriends, hence having the contract in place secures the artistes’ career for the long haul and also the management’s investment.
He stated the artistes cannot get pregnant until the contract is over.
“I understand for a woman, pregnancy is more or less like ‘nature’s call’ but she as a woman should understand her periods and convenient times she could give birth, especially in this industry,” he stated.
