Leading corporate bodies in Ghana on Thursday donated towards the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards scheduled for Saturday, November 2.
The companies included Unilever, Stanbic Bank, Youth Bridge Foundation, AGRA, Zoom Lion and Golden Star.
Dr Affail Monney, President of the GJA expressed gratitude to the sponsors for their support and said the event would award excellence and not to glorify mediocrity by some journalists.
Mr Stephen Larbi, Human Resource Business Partner, Unilever Ghana Limited, who donated $20,000 on behalf of the company, said the package would afford the winner to attend a convergence course in the United Kingdom.
Mr Robert Tetteh Coleman, Communications Manager, Zoomlion, donated Ghc 5,000 on behalf of his company for the best journalist in the sanitation category, whilst Golden Star, a mining company, also donated Ghc 5,000 for the best journalist in environment.
