According to Joey B, the tag began when some fans inferred he had called himself goat in one of his songs.
However, he told Andy Dosty on Daybreak Hitz, Thursday, his fans made the wrong assumption explaining goat used in the song was part of a line he was using to propose to a lady.
“...do you like ‘yemadeÔ’ (intestines), I’m the goat,” he had said in the song. Joey B stated that “I’ve never called myself G.O.A.T.”
To honour his fans for their contributions, Joey B went for the 4Syte Music Video Awards with a goat mask on his head.
According to him, social media has played a major role in bridging the gap between himself and his fans which, he added, has helped signed these deals.
Joey B stated that he realised he was lagging behind when other artistes were using social media to push their works.
“So I decided to tweet more, use social media more, do a few photoshoots, post them and see what happens. Since then I’ve been having shows, cancelling some because there are other shows, signing deals and stuff like that,” he told Andy Dosty.
The ‘Tonga’ artiste added that the attention span of the public in these times is shot mostly because of the increasing number of artistes.
This he said calls for the need for every artiste to constantly chat with fans on social media to keep the connection.
“People literally have songs released every other day. Now I’ve noticed that if your music is there and its popping, don’t get too comfortable, interact with the fans, let them feel you,” he added.
Joey B is holding a concert dubbed ‘Darryl and Friends’ for his fans on Saturday, November 23.
