Volta Serene Hotel, a member of the First Sky Group, is spearheading a campaign to rid second cycle schools in the Volta Region of Hepatitis B.
Students and their teachers would be screened and vaccinated free of charge as part of the campaign.
Programmes Manager at the Hotel, Divine Kutortse, says the campaign aims to raise awareness among students about the negative effects of Heat B.
“Management and staff will also provide free testing and vaccination for schools as part of our cooperate social responsibility for the year,“ he said.
He disclosed this at a Festival of Nine Lessons and Carol organised by the hotel in commemoration of Christmas.
It saw Over 700 guests, including group chairman of the First Sky, Eric Seddy Kutortse, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Health And Allied Sciences, Professor John Owusu Gyapong and many others in attendance.
According to Mr. Kutortse, the campaign which kicked off in Vakpo Senior High School in the North Dayi District will help raise awareness on the Hepatitis B virus through vigorous education in schools in the Volta Region.
Meanwhile, Group Chairman, Mr. Eric Seddy Kutortse dreams to use his companies as tools of blessings to the people especially those in the Volta Region by giving back to society.

Hepatitis B is the most common but dangerous liver infection in the world. Caused by the Hepatitis B virus that attacks and injures the liver, two billion people (or 1 in 3) have been infected.
More than 292 million people are living with a chronic Hepatitis B infection worldwide with up to 1 million people dying from Hepatitis B despite the fact that it is preventable and treatable.
