Owner of Zen Filling Station at Mankessim where there was a robbery attempt on Wednesday, Isaac Eshun, has been arrested by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Central Regional Police, to assist in investigations relating to the murder of Lance Corporal Kingsley Boahen.
Crime scene investigation conducted by the CID in conjunction with Crime Scene Management Team from the CID Headquarters, found that the spent cartridges retrieved from the murder scene were fired from the shotgun and pistol belonging to Isaac Eshun.
The murder scene is about 400 metres from the filling station situated along the Mankesim-Kumasi road where police had been called in during an ongoing robbery.
Police had taken control of the situation and retreated to base when they received another call about a shooting incident. It was following their arrival at the area close to the filling station that they found Lance Corporal Boahen’s body in a pool of blood.
Efforts are underway to arrest a second suspect to assist with the investigation.
One pistol and a shotgun belonging to suspect Isaac Eshun have been retrieved and the same retained for evidential purposes.
Investigations are still ongoing into the incident.
Police have announced a GH₵10,000 reward for anyone with credible information leading to the arrest of those who shot and killed the officer.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has also directed swift investigations into the murder.
