The first female head of West Africa Secondary School in Accra has been inducted into office at a very impressive ceremony in Accra.
She is Lady Queene Asiedu-Akrofi, a graduate of the University of Cape Coast, where she also obtained a Diploma in Education. She also holds a post-graduate diploma in the teaching of French as a foreign language from University de Saint- Ettiene in France.
Ms Asiedu-Akrofi is also an old student of both Archbishop Porter Girls Secondary School, Takoradi and St. Louis Secondary School in Kumasi.
Until her appointment as the substantive headmistress of West Africa Secondary School, on August 1, 2006, she was the substantive assistant headmistress of Accra Girls’ Secondary School.
Preaching at the induction service at the school at Adenta in Accra, Rev. Dr. Cephas Omenyo of the University of Ghana, Legon called on Lady Queene to show the same commitment and love she has for God as a Christian to the school in order to succeed.
The Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, Mrs. Akosua Adu, in her address, urged the new headmistress to carry the staff along with her in all she does so that together they can move the school to greater heights.
Present at the induction ceremony were members of Ms Asiedu-Akrofi’s family, including Mr. Douglas Asiedu-Akrofi, Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, relations, friends, a large number of old students and the members of Board of Governors.
