VICE PRESIDENT Alhaji Aliu Mahama has expressed zestful interest in a musical concert dubbed, “Beacon of Peace”, to be held in the Northern Region on February 24, to promote peace and unity.
“I was happy when I heard a concert was going to Tamale,” he said, expressing the wish that such events were always organised to further encourage peace and unity in the North.
He shared this view last Thursday in Accra when the organisers of ‘Beacon of Peace,’ made a courtesy call on him at the Castle to officially invite him to the event.
The veep however seized the opportunity to urge the team on the use of language. Language, he said, could be interpreted in any form, as such could inflate tension.
Thus organisers and artistes should endeavour to come up with sound music to reflect the basic aim of the event.
The team included representatives of Hafred Security Services and Foundation for Security and Development in Africa (FOSDA), organisers of the event.
The others were representatives of Northern Women for Development, Equatorial Coca-Cola Africa and Emperor Tours Limited Ghana, gold sponsors of the concert.
The rest were musicians and ‘Face of Beacon of Peace’ Miskelly Brock-Smith, runner-up of Miss Malaika 2006.
Hafix Mohammed Abdullau, chief executive officer of Hafred Security Services, in an interview with Beatwaves, said the event would not only promote peace in the area; it would be a tool for development as well, so had advised the artistes billed for the show to come out with songs worthy of peace, unity and development.
The event, he said, would be a peculiar event in Ghana.
