Students of the Business Senior High School (BISCO) in Tamale have been cautioned against the use of talisman, charms and amulets, during occasions in the school.
The Chronicle reports that most of the students did not only use the charms to confuse teachers during exams, but also used them to haunt their fellow students, whom they considered to be performing better in class.
Others also acquire the charms to gain cheap popularity on campus.
Meanwhile, the authorities of the school have vehemently condemned these acts, and have promised to severely sanction any recalcitrant student before the school's Disciplinary Committee.
Mr. Rauhouf Awudu, Headmaster of BISCO, dropped this warning, during the inauguration of the Dagomba Students Association (DASA), last week Saturday, in Tamale.
He said it was evil for any student to possess charms and amulets, since it compelled them to always think evil.
The Chronicle said it gathered from the school that the possession of charms was mostly found amongst the leadership of the various tribal groupings, who in most cases tried to show superiority over the others. This practice had existed since 2002.
The Chronicle can confirm that during special occasions of the school, talismans and amulets are openly displayed, tied around the bodies of some male students, to apparently showcase their cultural practices and spiritual strengths.
Meanwhile, the Business Senior High School, with a student population of about 1,500, is seriously grappling with several challenges, including inadequate classrooms and students' accommodation.
