THE first ever National Female Dance Championship was yesterday launched in Accra to scout for 10 young talented women dancers nationwide to compete at the national level.
The search train, which starts on March 31, in Accra, would move to all the ten regional capitals where the best 10 female dancers would be chosen for a grand finale at the National Theatre on Saturday June 30.
Christened: "Dance Blast," the championship would create the opportunity for females who have outstanding dancing talents to dance to fortune.
The programme is being organised by Point Blank Media Concepts (PBMC).
From Accra, the train would proceed to Cape Coast, Takoradi, and Koforidua through to Kumasi, Ho, Sunyani, Tamale, Wa and ends at Bolgatanga.
Apart from the dance performance, the judges would also look out for costuming, the presentation of the dance, the dancing movements, communication of the body, the body’s response to the change in music and the general appearance.
Speaking at the launch, the Chief Executive of PBMC, Theophilus E. Akatugba, said registration forms would be sent to radio stations across the regions for prospective females to acquire them.
He said the winner of the final event would receive ¢60 million cash in addition to a plasma television plus other prizes.
He said the lucky winner would also be sponsored to take part in a war dance in Sweden.
He said Terry Bright; Terry Bon-chaka’s replica, Slim Buster, Akosua Agyapong and the longest female dancer who is a Nigerian have all been billed to put up a spectacular performance at the main event in Accra.
