Eccentric former basketball star Dennis Rodman was sentenced to three years probation on Tuesday after admitting to a misdemeanor domestic violence charge, prosecutors said. Rodman, a star member of five NBA Championship winning teams during colorful stints with the Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls, was arrested in April after an incident at a hotel in Century City near Beverly Hills. Police said the 47-year-old famed for his wacky hairstyles, body piercings and tattoos, had attacked his girlfriend of four years during the incident. Los Angeles Superior Court Commissioner Mark Zuckman ordered Rodman to spend three years on probation, undergo one year of domestic violence counseling and perform 45 days of community service, the city attorney's office said. Defense attorney Paul Meyer issued a written statement to the court saying Rodman's "good-faith efforts in counseling are ongoing. Dennis will continue the strong upswing in his entertainment career." Rodman, who attended Tuesday's hearing, was ordered to return to court on October 3 for a progress report. Source:Tonight
