A former JCR President of the Commonwealth Hall of the University of Ghana, Benjamin Akyena Brentuo has demanded the dismissal of the Vice Chancellor of the Universty, Prof. C. N. B. Tagoe.
He says the National Award conferred on Prof. Tagoe must also be withdrawn.
Brentuo has had long legal tussels with the university over allegations of death threats on the lives some administrators including the VC.
He was however cleared by the court which held that there was no sufficient evidence to warrant his conviction.
Speaking to Joy News’ Evans Mensah, Brentuo insisted he was not a terrorist and never threatened to kill anybody as was alleged by the university authorites.
He said the VC needed to be sacked because he presided over graft in the school.
Quoting from a report of a visitation committee chaired by Sir John Daniels, Brentuo said there were many adverse findings against the university administration over which Prof. Tagoe presided.
He said the report observed that financial administrative systems were poor and needed to be reviewed.
According to him, the Sir John Daniels committee also recommended the closure of the Commomwealth Hall due to its dilapidated nature.
That recommendation and many others he stressed were not being implemented by university authorities.
But the registrar of the UG, Mr. Alfred Teddy Konu disagreed saying the committee’s recommendations were being implemented.
He said he was yet to receive the court ruling that cleared Brentuo.
Mr. Konu described the issues raised by Brentuo as “patent lies”.
