Authorities at the Methodist Primary and Local Auhority Junior High School in the Eastern Regional town of Gyankama in the Akwapim North District are expressing worry about the state of facilities in both schools.
The lack of adequate classrooms has compelled authorities to combine JHS forms One and Two into one classroom. Similarly, Kindergarten classes One and Two also share the same room much to the discomfort of pupils and teachers.
Joy News Eastern Regional Correspondent Benjamin Henaku, who visited the school during a dedication of some logistics to the school by the 1974 Old Students Association of Aburi Girls Senior High School, said the absence of a staff common room has compelled the teachers to resort to mark scripts and do other academic activities under the shade of a tree on the school compound.
But their situation is worsened during rains. According to one of the teachers, members of the community have not been helpful in alleviating the plight of the school.
