Sexy hiplifer Mzbel has returned to her base in Accra without a cent in her purse after a seemingly lucrative tour of Europe fell through and left her and promoters, ABS Entertainment, at each other's throat. A visibly upset Mzbel told Showbz last Monday that she was invited by the organisers to perform three shows. "I charged them 3000 Euros per show and requested that they make 70 per cent advance payment before I left for Italy. I also asked them to provide me with a return ticket, which they did." Although the advance payment was not made, Mzbel said she agreed to go on the trip because she had taken the organisers' word in good faith. She said since she wasn't sure of the organisers, she called a friend of hers to meet her at Rome airport although the organisers had also promised to meet her. "They met me alright at the airport and from all indications, they were not ready to make any advance payment so I ignored them and went with my friend and his family," she said. "They kept calling me for meetings without making any efforts to pay me the advance I asked for. I refused to perform and found my way back to Ghana at my own cost." Mzbel said that although the organisers bought a return ticket for her, she could not use it to return because when she called the airline to change the date to enable her return to Ghana, she was told that it was purchased by a travel agency and since she didn't know how to reach the said agency, she had to buy her own ticket back home. According to Mzbel, she was shocked when on her return, she heard the organisers claiming on TV3 and Radio Gold programmes that they had paid for her ticket and met her hotel bills while in fact she had put up with a friend and did not stay at any hotel. She advised fellow artistes not to allow event organisers to take them for granted simply because they want to travel abroad. Speaking to Showbiz from his base in Italy, Prince Faisal of ABS Entertainment said they contacted Mzbel for three shows and sent her a contract via her e-mail address but she did not fill it out. Prince said they dealt with Mzbel herself initially and she agreed to take 5000 Euros for the three shows even though the contract had 9000 Euros. "Later, a guy who introduced himself as Mzbel's manager came into the picture to be part of the negotiations but after a while, Mzbel told us to deal with her directly and not her manager for which reason she agreed to come to Italy before we made any payment." Prince said that the organisers' 'wahala' with Mzbel started upon her arrival in Italy because it had been agreed that they were going to pick her from the airport but she opted to go with some other guys. "She had made a transit in Germany and called us to send her some money which we did because we knew she had to at least get something to eat for the two hours that she was going to be in that country, besides she said she didn't have any money." Prince said, once they had done that, they were constantly in touch with Mzbel so they could pick her from the airport but that was not to be, "Although we were not amused that she wouldn't join the car we had provided at the airport, we respected her option of leaving with the guys, though we had fully booked a 4-star hotel for her," he said. Mzbel asked for an advance payment of 1000 Euros and Prince said his boss gave her 500 pounds sterling which she refused insisting that she preferred Euros, "We sorted that out and gave her the equivalent in no time but just days to the first show, Mzbel told us she would not perform." "We went ahead with the first show in Pordenone without Mzbel but a day before the second show, she went on radio to say all sorts of things to tarnish our reputation claiming she had never been part of any show and this marred our subsequent shows." he said. As far as Prince is concerned, if Mzbel had not gone on air to make those pronouncements, they could have had a successful show because they had equally good artistes like Kofi B and Reggie Zippy on the bill. "We decided to go to the media to clear the air and we will continue to do that till Mzbel comes out to say the whole truth about what transpired," he stated. Asked if his outfit wants any refund from Mzbel, Prince said they did initially but realised she could not make any refund, "if she was in a position to refund any money, she would have done that when she was in Italy. All we want now is an apology from her because being truthful will go a long way to help her in her career." Source: Graphic Showziz
