The President of the Institute of Human Resource Management Practitioners (IHRMP), Ghana, Mr. John Wilson, led a team of Governing Council Members to pay a working visit to the Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Honourable Haruna Iddrisu at his offices on Thursday, October 23, 2014.
Mr. John Wilson expressed gratitude for the opportunity and welcomed the Honourable Minister to office as the new Minister of Employment and Labour Relations.
He noted that IHRMP is endowed with a membership of specialists in the HR field, and therefore it was able to handle a wide variety of trainings and consultancies.
Mr. Wilson ended his address by recommending the adoption of the “Tripod” approach of Management, which promotes trust, respect and effective communication as essentials for stability at the Workplace. Its adoption he reiterated, will go a long way to prevent strikes and disputes between employers and employees.
In response, Honourable Iddrisu assured the delegation of his readiness to work together with IHRMP on the development and training of the nation’s human capital to attract investment, noting investors considered the quality of workforce in a nation when taking investment decisions. He mentioned that his Ministry remains interested in collaborating closely with IHRMP to take advantage of the expertise offered by its membership.
The IHRMP delegation informed the Minister of their upcoming 2014 Annual General Meeting to be held at the Accra International Conference Centre on Friday, November 7, 2014.
Other members of the IHRMP delegation included Mr. Andy Osei Okrah, Vice President; Mr. George Anto-Boateng, Council Member; Dr. Edward Kwapong, Council Member; and Mr. Ebenezer Agbettor, Executive Director.
