Guiness Ghana Breweries Ltd (GGBL) says text messages in circulation purported to be coming from the drinks manufacturer informing recipients that they have won sums of money are fraudulent.
"GGBL is currently not running a national consumer promotion on any of our brands" said a statement condemning the false messages, and signed by Preba Greenstreet, Corporate Relations Director.
According to the press release, all brand and consumer promotions run by Guinness Ghana are widely publicised with clear modalities for participation and never include request for banking details or any monetary payments from promotion beneficiaries in order to claim their prize -- as the circulating messages purport.
"We want to assure our cherished consumers and the general public that we take such issues very seriously and that the matter is being investigated by our security team in collaboration with the security services", said the release.
