Indigenous transport company Pergah Transport has received the “Most Outstanding Transport Company of the Year” at this year’s Business Executives Excellence Awards in Accra.
The local company established 15 years ago beat other international companies to the coveted award.
Speaking on the recognition, Pergah’s Marketing Manager Richmond Amoako-Prempeh said the award provides the company an opportunity to reflect on the contribution it makes to the transport industry as well.
“We have worked towards excellence over the last decade and we are excited about such an award which gives us further encouragement that our hard work is being appreciated.
“The award provides additional motivation, enthusiasm and the determination to improve more on our service delivery, because perfection is an ongoing process and we are committed to it every step of the way,” he added.
The Business Executive Awards is annual awards organised by the publishers of the Business Executive magazine to recognise true talent and superior performance in Ghana’s business community.
Pergah’s recognition comes at a time it fulfilled the international Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) standards, which remains crucial in the transport business the company operates.
According to its CEO, Fule Badoe, “we feel that complying with such standards is not only beneficial to the environment that we work in, but also a sustainable manner to do business. Through our vast experience of working with foreign and companies, we have come to understand how having relevant EHS policies benefits our business,” he said.
Pergah Transport commenced business some fifteen years ago using a few buses to convey both workers and students in Accra. The company has now grown into a major transport services provider in Ghana with a fleet of over 200 vehicles comprising buses, trucks and Cross Country vehicles.
The company currently employs over 307 people with various skills in almost all the regions in the country.
