The Methodist Church, Ghana, has initiated measures to establish two university campuses in the Eastern Region, namely, an ICT Campus at Larteh in the Akuapem North District and Agricultural Business Development Campus at Kukurantumi in the East Akim municipality.
The Right Rev. Frederick Nnuroh, Diocesan Bishop Of the church at Koforidua, announced this in an address to open the 30th annual diocesan synod at Calvary Methodist at Adweso.
He said land had been acquired for the projects. "The diocese already has many basic and junior high schools and a few second- cycle schools."
The Presimng Bishop, the Most Rev. Dr Robert Aboagye-Mensah, said the church was on course playing its pivotal role by contributing towards national and human development.
He, therefore, asked the members to lead righteous lives and contribute their quota towards the growth of the church.
The Deputy Eastern Regional Minister, Baba Jamal, commended the Methodist Church for its contributions towards the country's socio-economic advancement saying, "Government perceives the church as a development partner and prays that it continues to play a more proactive role to support government's development effort."
