Fashion and Life magazine, Nigeria's foremost fashion and lifestyle journal, circulating in Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Sierra Leone and UK, is set to hold its annual Fashion & Life Achievements Awards 2009 in Accra on Sunday, July 26.
The awards which was set up last year to give honour to deserving achievers in the fashion and beauty industry as well as other areas of human endeavour is expected to attract Nollywood stars.
The event will be a night of glamour, high fashion, entertainment and fun.
Tinny is expected to jam a couple of songs and one of Nigeria's funniest comedians Omobaba is billed to crack ribs with his jokes.
The Lagos-based magazine chose Accra for this year's awards event because of its serene beauty and to further its Nigeria-Ghana integration policy. This event will also give the Nigerian awardees the opportunity of broadening their business interests.
Already, the prestigious La Palm Beach Royal Hotel has thrown its weight behind the event as a sponsor.
The awards comes in conjunction with the Nigeria-Ghana fashion exhibition, which will feature four of Nigeria's hottest designers as well as two of Ghana's hottest designers.
In all, there are about 20 awards categories for top Nigerian fashion and beauty designers and entrepreneurs in the education, oil & gas, IT, community development and business sectors.
The awardees also include some notable Nollywood stars who are the most fashionable for the past year, Jim Iyke, Rita Dominic, Jide Kosoko and Lola Also. They are billed to storm the event with their colleagues in the Nigerian movie industry.
Ghanaians are not left out of the awards as special recognition awards will be given to four Ghanaians for being very fashionable and contributing to the development of their various areas of calling.
These are Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botwe, Jackie Appiah, Chris Attoh and Rachel Bruce.
The A-list lunch/dinner event will have more than 50 guests flown in from Nigeria by Virgin or Aero-contractors, and the Nigerian High Commissioner as well as top Ghanaians are expected as special guests of honour.
According to the publisher of Fashion and Life magazine, Mr. Peter Roc, “We intend to make this event, like the way it usually is in Nigeria, classy, exciting, entertaining and completely breadth taking. A show to remember for a long time.”
