The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has assured traders in Accra that, the markets will be opened on Tuesday, March 24, after planned disinfection exercise Monday.
The exercise, the Ministry said, is to help enhance the conditions of hygiene in markets in the wake of the novel coronavirus.
In a statement signed by the minister Hajia Alima Mahama, the exercise is expected to take place on Monday, March 23.
“The Ministry requests the cooperation of the general public especially traders and all persons conducting businesses in the markets in this all-important exercise. The markets would be opened on Tuesday, 24th March 2020,” the statement said.
The exercise will also happen in 137 markets across the region.
In government’s efforts to combat the covid-19, the exercise, according to the ministry will not take place only in the Greater Accra region but in all markets across the country.
