A family is demanding the Walewale Municipal Hospital, in the North East Region, properly preserves the body of their relative who passed away on Monday, April 6.
Mumuni Issah died after suffering from a short illness the family has said.
The hospital, however, suspects he died from Covid-19, brother of the deceased, Osman Mohammed told JoyNews’ Eliasu Tanko.
The hospital, he said took some samples from Mumuni for testing in Kumasi.
Mr Mohammed claimed that the suspicion has led to the manhandling of his brother’s body.
According to him, the hospital can trace his late brother’s medical history to his asthmatic condition because, he has no travel history that could point the cause of his death to the coronavirus.
Head of the family Mr. Abdullah Mohammed said that while they wait for the result, the hospital does not have a well-equipped morgue to keep the body of the deceased.
He demanded the Walewale hospital sends the body to the Bolgatanga morgue or the Tamale Teaching Hospital morgue for proper keeping till the result arrived.
Meanwhile, Ghana has recorded 313 coronavirus cases and six deaths.
